We have a plan. . .

At least, for a moment.  It seems like every plan changes -- some by the minute, some by the hour, and some by the day.  Today's plan started with a day to rest and recuperate, then it changed to a possible biopsy surgery, now it has settled down to CT body scans with contrast and MRI scans with and without contrast.  Brendan was told that he could eat today, then was told in the middle of his breakfast (Fruit Loops!) that he could not eat today, and now it is up in the air.  (So that means no eating or drinking until we hear from the doctor(s)).  

Right now the tentative weeks schedule is to do scanning today and meet with the radiation oncology team.  On Thursday will (might) be the craniotomy and lymph node biopsy.  Then chemo will start Thursday night after the surgery.  Of all the things we have learned in the last 5 days is that nothing here is set in stone.

 Brendan, Shaun and I slept well through the night and got some much needed rest.  It's Monday morning so the doctors started coming in at 7 a.m. and continued all morning.  For the first time since his surgery on Saturday evening, Brendan got up out of bed.  We had hoped to get to the shower, but the couch was as far as he could get.  So he got a sponge bath.  The port on his chest is feeling a little better, but his chest is still very sore.  He's feeling the pain in his sinus and the packing inside is bothering him.  The swelling on his eyelid is going down.  

 So Brendan is upbeat today and drinking 2 cans of Gatorade with contrast.  We will be heading for MRI scans within the hour and hopefully CT scans at the same time.  He's enjoying the movie, Nanny McPhee Returns while he guzzles (okay, that may not be accurate) - sips with a scowl - his contrast concoction.
