Brendan came out of the surgery to clean out the tumor below the brain and the fine needle aspirant (FNA)(to get a sample of tissue from the lymph node) sometime after 2 p.m. and was in recovery for quite awhile. It took time and quite a bit of medication to get his pain under control. They also had to cut off circulation to his hand for a few minutes to stop the bleeding from the arterial IV, and that was rather painful. When he finally spoke to me he whimpered, "Put me back to sleep!"
I'm not quite sure what he is going to think about another surgery (craniotomy) tomorrow. (Actually, I know exactly what he is going to think. And he is not going to like it.) As the doctors would talk to him about the procedures, they would say, "Don't worry, you'll be sound asleep." That worked on the biopsy and the 1st sinus surgery, but this time he knew what to expect. His reply? "Yes! But I have to wake up afterwards!!!"
