We've received two calls from the operating room saying that everything is going well. About an hour and a half ago (about 1:30 p.m.) they removed the skull piece and began lifting the frontal lobes to start working on resecting (removing) the cancer. At some point today, the ENT's will scope through the sinus and the neurosurgeons will be working up top so they can see both sides together.
Third update just called in. They have most of the tumor removed and are getting ready to start putting the bones back together. Brendan's doing great. They said they will call us again in a couple of hours. . .
Some questions we've received that I will answer here:
*On the blog you mentioned they had removed most of the tumor. Will some remain?
Not sure what the operating nurse meant when she said that. We will have to wait to hear from the neurosurgeon and ENT's. I know they weren't going to push into the "danger zones" if they didn't have to since radiation and chemotherapy will be used afterwards.
*Are you hanging in there?
We are definitely feeling all the prayers and love coming our way. It's an amazing feeling. We know he is in the Lord's hands and we feel very peaceful about everything. Our prayers have turned in thanksgiving to you and that this peace and calm we feel with extend to all who are praying for us.
Thank you, Kerry, for continuing such consistent updates. I am thinking of you, and praying for you. Bryton, also, is especially grateful for the updates, as he asks several times a day how Brendan is doing. We love you.
ReplyDeleteYes, thank you for the updates. I check here regularly, so thank you for keeping us informed of what is going on. Brendan is a strong kid - so impressed with how well he is doing. Love you guys so much!
