He was up for a game of Monopoly for about 30 minutes, but quickly wilted and fell back to sleep for the rest of the afternoon.

Brendan had a late radiation appointment today (4:15 p.m.). We thought he would be discharged before then, but in order to get out of the hospital he has to be able to control the nausea and be able to take his medicine orally and eat. None of that happened today so he will spend another night in the hospital. He hasn't eaten since Monday afternoon and has lost another 2 kilos. Brendan's radiation doctor will recommend he have a feeding tube put in when his blood counts are at an acceptable level.
Brendan slept through most of his radiation outing today -- the drive over to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, his radiation, the wait for the doctor visit, and the ride back to Primary Children's. Then he crawled back into bed and has slept since.
With most of the Cisplatin out of his system by 48 hours, we hope he is feeling at least a little better tomorrow.

This too shall pass. Prayers for Charlie an' da momma, I imagine you're as drained as he is. Lots of love my friend. Brooke
ReplyDeleteIt's a tender mercy to sleep through so much miserable nausea. If only you could sleep as much as him! 💓💓💓 hugs for all of you!
