Surgery is Done. . .

We just met with the doctors who performed the surgery to remove lymph nodes in Charlie's neck.    They indicated that they successfully removed a number of cancerous lymph nodes on both sides of his neck.  This was a surgery with numerous risks and potential complications given the important nerves, veins and vessels in the vicinity of these lymph nodes.  The doctors indicated that all went well.  They didn't encounter unforeseen complications during surgery, and don't expect any long term problems from the surgery.  The incision from the surgery is larger than we expected, essentially nearly reaching from ear to ear.  Charlie is in recovery now, and in a lot of pain.  He's complaining that his neck hurts, and it hurts to swallow.  No wonder poor guy.  Thanks again for all your prayers and thoughts during this surgery.  We feel your faith and love, and know it makes a difference for Charlie.  Hopefully this will be the end of the surgical part of Charlie's treatment.  We'll keep you posted.
