These were the good moments today. The moments sandwiched in between the miserable bookends of the day. It started out rough, (stomach ache, headache, bloody nose) and ended rough (headache, backache, more bloody noses), but the middle of the day was nice for a few delightful hours.
Sarah took Brendan outside to get the mail.
They went looking for milkweed to bring the monarch butterflies around.
Brendan worked at balancing the bird on his tongue while Sarah and I worked at cleaning the playroom. (Years ago I heard that the state of your closets is the state of your mind. I'm not sure I believe that, but it has felt good to do some cleaning out -- decluttering --and free up some mental-- as well as home storage-- space. Besides, it feels like a very normal thing to do. And we like feeling normal!)
Brendan played a game with Aaron and me while he ate his hot dog.
He rested and read his new book --- Book 4 of "The Janitors" series by Tyler Whitesides. (That's the fourth book in as many days. He re-read one, two and three, now is reading four and five for the first time.)
Bleeding today was a problem for Brendan. His nose just kept dripping off and on all day. It was not enough to be worrisome, just bothersome. Tissues piled up all day.
The pain tonight is back to what is was this morning -- extremely difficult. He's tired, but can't sleep. It hurts for him to lie down or stand up. He tosses and turns -- he just can't get comfortable. He's frustrated when he can't get what he needs without help.
Hopefully, soon, we will get him settled down, rub his feet, and maybe, he can get a good nights rest. Blood draws are tomorrow morning so we can at least talk to the nurse about getting some platelets.

It is amazing how good "normal" can feel! I am glad you were able to feel some of that today.
