But Brendan had a perfectly "back to normal" day. He got his toenails and fingernails clipped. (I thought chemo would stunt their growth, but, along with his eyelashes, they've grown in leaps and bounds. I'm wondering if platin chemo drugs have a future in nail and eyelash growth?)
Brendan finished his Empire State Building set.
He enjoyed the great outdoors and the spring weather with Kristen and Atticus.
He helped Rachel and her friends make chex mix.
So, maybe he's not all normal. . .Tonight, one of Brendan's wishes finally came true -- along with the other kid's wishes. They got a dog. One that Brendan has been waiting for since October. All the nurses, doctors, and specialists would ask him what he was looking forward to when he finished his treatments. His answer was always, "A dog." Spring seemed a long ways away when Shaun and Brendan began talking "dogs," but it finally happened.
They decided on a Scotch Collie. He's an outside dog. (Mom insists-- And he better chase the deer out of the orchard and garden.)
It's so good to see Brendan up and moving. He commented yesterday how nice it was to feel the sun on his face again. Once again, he's a whole new kid when he's home. We'll take normal for as long as we can-- or as normal as it gets around here :)

Love the dog❤️
ReplyDeleteCute puppy! So, how is Tony the cat (an "only pet") taking to his new room(garage)mate?
ReplyDeleteTony took a swipe at his nose when he came too close. Maybe they can be friends now that they've established who is in charge :)
DeleteAwwwww love the new pup. Love the smiles. So glad he's home :)
ReplyDeleteAwe ...cute!! So happy Brendan is home and feeling better! *hugs* 💙
ReplyDeleteWhat good therapy for Brendan, a dog. Hopefully it will be for mom too, cuz we know who ends up taking care of the kids' pet (s) ;)
