The First Time in Forever

When I asked Brendan about his day today, he said that he felt like getting out of the house was "the first time in forever."  

 Brendan actually spent quite a bit of time outside today and out of the house.  Today was the first time I've seen him run since last October.  He winded quickly, but it's good to see him active and moving again.

 Brendan gave himself his antibiotic today.  I think we'll do a lot more of that since he knows just how fast he likes it pushed into his feeding tube.

 Every day Brendan is trying new things.  Today it was a piece of marshmallow.  He wasn't too impressed.

 Brendan and Aaron spent some time with Chris and Kristen this afternoon.  Brendan was so happy to get out of the house and go somewhere.  And there is no place he likes more than their house.  While there, he tasted a bit of chocolate ice cream.  "Too sweet," he says.

 Today Brendan drew this octopus.  He's pretty proud of it.  He did a great job.

Months ago, we started talking about plans for Spring Break.  According to the "treatment plan" Brendan would finish up his 6th round of chemo in mid-March and would be free to make plans for the break.  But, as we all know, plans don't always go as  scheduled and things seemed a little out of control for awhile in February and March.  So we scrapped all plans and figured we would stay flexible.

Well,  Spring Break is here and we are still staying flexible.  When we found out Brendan's blood counts were up, we planned to go to a movie tonight.  "Zootopia" was a great pick.  Everyone seemed to enjoy it.  Tomorrow is the family Easter Picnic and egg roll.  After that . . .we'll see.  Staying within an hour of Salt Lake is one of our limiting factors.  But word came yesterday that cousins are on their way to Utah for their spring break!  Perfect timing.
