Countdown to New Years

This morning was the final push to the end of radiation.  Shaun and I had to rock/paper/scissors to see who went to Salt Lake this week.  (Actually, once we decided today was just a "down and back" trip, I volunteered.) Sarah and Landon went down with us.
It was a quiet drive down with the kids reading their books.  Brendan wouldn't even put his book down to walk into the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

The waiting room was freezing!  We hunkered down for the hour wait -- they were 3 patients behind when we got there.
Today Brendan didn't even hesitate giving his name and birthdate.  It's pretty routine now.
Today was another prize day! (Check out the color pattern Brendan created on his chart.)
Lark talked Brendan into some crazy glasses for his prize.
 Set up begins. . .

I can't get over his eyelashes sticking through his mask.
Then we had some fun with his new prize.

Putting in the plates for the scans.
Back to the cold waiting room to wait for Brendan to finish his radiation.
Surprise.  Today was "meet with the doctor" day.  But it wasn't Dr. Poppe.  Another doctor filled in.  Good news! -- Brendan gained 2 pounds this week!  He weighed 67 pounds today.
One of my least favorite places -- the Huntsman Cancer Institute underground parking garage.  Tight, scarce parking in the dark.  If we make it through radiation without getting hit by cars looking for parking places or getting the car scraped up we will consider ourselves lucky!
We stopped by Farmington for just 20 minutes -- long enough to get blood drawn.  Still Brendan wouldn't put down his book.
From Farmington we headed straight home.  It was good to be back home before dark.  The drive to Salt Lake seems shorter all the time.
We're so glad to be home for Family Home Evening.  We're trying out the new game we got for Christmas!  How did they know we liked Monopoly?
