Brendan slept all morning and finally woke up at one-thirty p.m. He watched "Minions" and only got out of bed to weigh today -- 65.34 lbs.
While Brendan was sleeping, the doctor came in and mentioned that they wanted to keep Brendan until Sunday so they can give him all of his post chemo fluids Saturday and then feed him overnight and see how his sodium levels do with food in his system. Well, I didn't realize Brendan hadn't heard the news -- he still thought he was coming home Saturday. He was very disappointed.
This afternoon, he was back to sleep. He's only been back out of bed for a moment. The anti-nausea medicines are keeping him drowsy, but so far he hasn't been sick to his stomach. His last dose of cisplatin starts at 8 p.m. and etopocide will follow an hour later. Then he will be done round 3 of chemo. (A "round" of chemo is the treatment of chemo followed by a rest period in which the body has time to recover. Brendan's rounds last 21 days -- 3 days of chemo, then waiting for his blood counts to drop, then come back up again. A "cycle" is the number of times these rounds happen. Right now, Brendan is scheduled for a total of 6 cycles of chemo.") We are almost half way done!
