This morning began with blood draws. Brendan enjoyed the weekend nurse's sense of humor and fun-loving attitude. Brendan tried out the reclining position, but, unfortunately, no blood would come out of his port until he sat up. (At times he has had to do different things-- like raise his right arm-- to get blood to flow.)
Today Aaron finally convinced Brendan it was time to decorate the gingerbread houses. We usually decorate gingerbread houses at Christmas time, but it didn't happen this year. Brendan was given a gingerbread house kit by his scout friends and Aaron couldn't wait to help Brendan decorate them.Sunday afternoons are the best, right? Time to sit and visit and enjoy being together!
Of course, a game or two is usually thrown in for a good measure of fun!
Preliminary reports on the blood work showed that Brendan's blood counts are still low. The hospital will call in the morning to give us the full blood count results and let us know if he will receive his chemo treatment on Monday, or if they are going to delay treatment until his counts are higher. We should hear from the clinic about the same time as we need to leave for his hearing tests. So I guess we better get packed -- just in case.
