Today I was worried about how Brendan would be feeling. He has had such a rough week. I almost told the physical therapist not to come, but decided we would give it a try, even though Brendan was not excited to see him.
But it turned out to be a really good thing. He stretched out Brendan's tight muscles (from not using them for a couple of weeks) and showed him how to strengthen his arms and legs without even getting out of bed.Brendan seemed to feel much better afterwards. Then, Shaun and Brendan spent some time reading together while Brendan rested after physical therapy.
Throughout the rest of the day, Brendan seemed to feel better and better. He wanted to play air hockey so we rigged up the table so he could sit and play.
And another rest.
I was glad to see Brendan reading again today. The past several days he has been in too much pain to even focus on his book. And when I thought he was still reading, he was actually sleeping. Which was good, since he didn't sleep much overnight.
Once again, we coaxed Brendan outside for a little while. It really perks him up.
Then it was time for another rest.
Today Brendan was feeling so much better! It was such a relief to see the difference in him. We are thinking now that the strep infection had taken a much bigger toll on him than we thought possible. He had been thinking that all the aches and pains were spreading cancer, while maybe it was the misery of a high fever and muscle aches.
Once again, we can think about his Wish Trip, and his radiation next week. Yesterday I was thinking those things might not be possible. But prayers are answered and Brendan is feeling better and doing much better than earlier this week. Thanks for those prayers, your faith, and the miracles that follow.

I love hearing today was a better day. I'm also so excited that things are looking hopeful for his wish trip! He is going to LOVE it! Tell him I said hello and thinking of him...big hugs.
ReplyDeleteSo thankful he is kicking the strep and feeling a bit better.
