And He Gets an "Ambulance" Bead

So Brendan fevered last night, but it went down while he slept.  This morning it was back up around 101.4 so the oncology doctor wanted him to go to the Logan Emergency Department for some antibiotics and blood cultures.  Oh, how Brendan begged not to go.  But with Brendan's Wish Trip coming up we didn't want to take any chances that he would be sick.  The doctors are working so hard to make sure he is well enough to go.
 Brendan was really miserable today.
 The obligatory chest x-rays. . .

Then the sitting and waiting while we wait for test results.  Thank goodness Sarah came to read to him.
The ED doctor was not comfortable with how Brendan was doing, so he discussed his condition with the doctors at Primary's and they decided to transport him to Salt Lake.
Brendan wanted his Uncle Brandon (a paramedic) to drive him to Salt Lake, but alas, Brandon wasn't working today.

Brendan was "packaged" up and sent.

When given the choice, Brendan picked Sarah to ride with him in the ambulance.  I wasn't surprised.
Sarah said the ride was pretty bumpy.
If you are big and red, then cars move out of your way.  If you are small and white, no one moves out of your way.  It didn't take long for the ambulance to leave me in the dust.
I still made it to Primary's only minutes behind Brendan and met him up on the 4th floor.
It didn't take long for Brendan to get settled in and order some chips and cheese.  But they weren't as good as homemade, he said.
The kids and Shaun came to visit for the afternoon.  It was good to have everyone together.

We even made dinner in the Ronald McDonald Family Room together.  We are so grateful for the food donated to the pantry so when dinner is not being served, there is still food in the fridge and cupboards to make something.
We kind of waited around all afternoon to see if Brendan would be discharged.  But finally it got late enough that we knew they would keep him overnight.  His fever went back up for awhile and he has been pretty miserable when the Tylenol wears off.  It is such a drastic difference -- when he is in pain or has a fever, he can hardly stand it.  When the Tylenol takes the edge off, he is pleasant and comfortable.   Hopefully, we can find out soon what is causing the fevers.

(Test results just came back and it's not C. diff.  Strep test is negative.  "Now what?" is what everyone is asking.  Guesses include:  It could just be the disease progression. Another guess is radiation fevers -- I didn't know there was such a thing.  Diarrhea could be caused by the radiation to his pelvis. Or it could be an unidentified virus.  They may do an influenza "nose swab" test tomorrow since there is a lot of respiratory stuff going around here still.)
We are back to taking it one day at a time.
