Life Lessons

For a few glorious minutes this morning, Brendan went outside.  Landon wanted to play with his remote controlled car and he talked Brendan into going out with him.  Brendan didn't want to walk outside because of his hip pain, so I reminded him he could take the wheelchair out.  Good idea.

 Shaun and I were able to attend the funeral of Emery -- the 4 month old daughter of Josh and Lena Peel Allen.  It was a beautiful service.  One of hope and love and miracles.  It is amazing how the 4 month life of a precious child can bring so much love into the world.  Lena spoke about the life lessons she learned from Emery.  Somehow, we've been learning many of those same lessons and it was nice to be reminded how much we need to treasure those lessons and enjoy every day.

Josh and Lena were our "neighbors" at Primary Children's .  They were in NICU with Emery and we were in ICS with Brendan.  So we got to visit, and sometimes have lunch together, and ask how each other were doing.  The testimonies of Josh and Lena continue to strengthen mine.

 It is so hard to see Brendan in pain.  We are anxious for Monday to confer again with the doctors.  He has lost interest in food and is often nauseous.  Again, today, for a short time, he ran a low grade fever.  If this continues, Brendan doesn't think he can wait until Monday to see the doctor.  Me either.

 The rest of the day Brendan spent inside -- lying down -- bothered by the increasing pain in his right hip.

 We have no idea where this is going to lead.  The hip pain Brendan has had twice before has come for a day or two and then subsided.  This just seems to be getting worse.

In the meantime, Brendan's hair is starting to come back in more evenly. . .
