Oops!

Oops!  This morning I got up early to get Brendan ready for his PET scan.  While I was giving him his sodium (with his feeds -- because it feels better in his stomach that way) I realized, with alarm, that his feeds were still going.  Brendan was supposed to be fasting for this test and I was to turn off his food at 2 a.m.  A quick call to the hospital "on call" doctor and we were scrambling to get a new appointment set for later.

Well, they could get him in for a later scan, but for some reason, they couldn't seem to fit him in to get his injection for the exam.  So, we called it off for today and will reschedule for another week.  Which was just fine with Brendan.  He enjoyed a day at home resting and playing.  We enjoyed an extra day to pack and get ready for the Make-A-Wish trip.  Brendan actually started getting a little bit excited to go.  He hasn't dared get his hopes up.
Make-A Wish has been a fantastic organization to work with.  It's really unbelievable that we are able to take all the younger kids on this trip.  They are so excited!  Our married and older children aren't able to go, but will be staying together at our home to keep each other (and the animals) company while we're gone.  Loren has been here at our house studying for the Utah Bar exam.  He's probably going to be happy to have some peace and quiet for a change, though we've noticed that Sarah constantly tempts him to do other things.

Friends have been visiting and wishing Brendan well.  Cards have come and travel snack were brought by dear friends.  We have been so grateful for the prayers and fasting by so many so that Brendan would be well enough to take this trip.  It has made all the difference.
Brendan snuggled into bed tonight just brimming with happiness.  He is so grateful for so many people who have done so much for him.  Everyone from Make-A-Wish who provide a dream come true for him and the whole family, to the stranger praying that he will be well enough to go.  He feels it and is so grateful!
