Surprise Day Home

Yesterday, (Sunday) Brendan made it to Sacrament Meeting at Church, but came home afterwards to sleep.  The pain is up and down -- his back is giving him some trouble.  So we have good hours and hard hours each day.  Playing chess with Loren made for some good hours --
. . .especially when he beat him.
Brendan was up when Linda Danielson came to visit.  These two compared chemo and treatment stories, and understand each other as only cancer patients can.
Today we had a surprise day at home.  I had the car all packed and we were just getting ready to head to Salt Lake when our Care Coordinator called to say that we could squeeze everything in on Wednesday and didn't need to make an extra trip down this week.  Yeah!  That meant we could go swimming with the cousins.  If anything has kept Brendan up today, it's been trying to keep up with his cousins.
He couldn't stand all the fun being had without him, so he hopped in the water.  It was cold!  He lasted about 5 minutes.
Fifteen minutes later we were headed home for a nap.  His back pain, the cold, and the exertion of activity brought on the tired tears.

After a nice, long nap, our friends, the Loveland's, brought Brendan a present.  Why just have a star in the Wish Tower at Give Kids the World when you can have a real star!  The Brendan Peck Star is located near Pegasus.

With cousins in town, we had a special Family Home Evening together.
"Can't I hold Elizabeth?"
Brendan's cousin, Sammy, had made a special piñata for Brendan shaped like a cancer cell.  She told him she made it for him so he could beat it with a stick!!  And he did!

 Thanks, Sammy!

It was nice to have a surprise day at home.

  1. Brendan, we love having you home. We have had so many more parties/get-togethers when you are around. It is always more fun to party with YOU!
